Marshfield, WI, August 18th, 2012 – Visiting Marshfield Motor Speedway for a second time in 2012 was the SCAG ASA Midwest Tour Trucks. James Swan started the night off like he finished a week ago in Norway, Michigan. Swan set fast time with a lap time of 18.745, with Dan Barber qualifying second and Jerry Wood, third.
Leading the field to the green flag in the ASA SCAG Midwest Truck Tour feature event at Marshfield was Roger Eagan and Joe Rinartz. Jacob Louis VanWazer, the first heat winner, quickly moved to the front in the Marshfield 40 with outside passes of Eagan and Rinartz. VanWazer held the lead until Steve Schultz and he got together bringing out the only caution in the race. On the restart, it was point leader Swan moving to the front. Swan built a 5 truck lead over Andy Jirik by lap ten. Jirik would hold down the second position until lap 31. That was when a very fast Dan Barber worked his way through the field of cars and ran down Jirik for the runner up position. Barber, looked to possibly have the fastest truck the last ten laps of the race. Barber cut the lead that Swan had built for himself down to three truck lengths. Another driver working his way through the field was that of John Wood. Wood, who earlier in the evening drove his truck to a fast heat win, worked his way to the fourth position and was looking to get by Andy Jirik for the third position. However, once starter Geno Eckes through the checkered flag in the Marshfield 40, it was all James Swan! Swan held off a hard charging Dan Barber by 4 truck lengths for the win. Andy Jirik was able to fend off challenges from John Wood for the podium finish. Joe Rinartz had a very consistant run coming home in the fifth position.
