Barstad Ready to Take on the Challenge for Rookie of the Year in the ARCA Midwest Tour

by Fay Hendricks
April 7, 2014 - Nick Barstad joins the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment with a mission. Barstad stated, “We will be helping to raise money and awareness for the Pets Loyal 2 Vets Organization this season. It is a great program we have gotten behind to help veterans with PTSD, physical assault traumas and traumatic brain injuries to be paired up with special service dogs. I would like to thank Interstate Truck Driving School, Pets Loyal 2 Vets Organization, Stanley & Wencl LLC, Topline Landscape Services and VMS Motorsports for their support.”

Barstad previously competed full time at Elko Speedway, earning Division 1 NASCAR Minnesota State Rookie of the Year in 2011. Barstad then joined the Big 8 Race Series and eventually moved up to the super late model division, earning some wins along the way. Barstad will be competing in his number 1 Chevy SS Pathfinder Chassis with power from a B & B Ace motor this season.

Barstad stated, “Being a rookie in the ARCA Midwest Tour means a lot to me and I think if we can avoid mechanical failures and stay out of trouble, we will have a good shot at the ROY title.” Barstad added, “I chose to enter the Midwest rookie program because I wanted to be put up against some of the best drivers and teams in the Midwest while traveling to multiple tracks, expanding my knowledge and understanding of racing.”

Barstad’s goals for the 2014 ARCA Midwest Tour are pretty reasonable, claiming, “I hope to qualify for every show this year and hopefully start getting some top fives to put us in ROY contention.”
