ARCA Midwest Tour and ARCA/CRA Super Series will go Head-to-Head This Monday, May 26th
by Kari Shear-Carlson
May 23, 2014 - When the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by Scag Power Equipment rolls into Illiana Motor Speedway for the Calypso Lemonade Border Wars II 150 lap event this Sunday and Monday, May 25th and 26th, it will be a battle between the Midwest Tour and the ARCA/CRA Super Series.
The battles won’t stop there, however. ARCA Midwest Touring Star, Boris Jurkovic will be heading into his hometrack in search of a win in front of his hometown crowd.
The Joliet, IL driver is no stranger to victory lane at the 1/2-mile oval in Schererville, IN, recently dominating twin 56-lap features in the Elmer Musgrave Memorial in August of last year.
When Jurkovic goes home he goes up against some pretty tough competition, and many of those drivers will be racing this upcoming weekend. “Eddie Hoffman, Jeff Cannon, and a handful of other guys are going to be really tough,” said Jurkovic.
While there isn’t really any more pressure for the driver of the #8 Reliable Recovery Service sponsored Ford Fusion, winning at home is something every driver likes to do. “Anytime you can win at home it’s special,” said Jurkovic.
Boris Jurkovic teamed up with Mike Butz Racing to run the entire Midwest Tour schedule in 2014. The team is currently running sixth in the overall point standings after the first three events.
One thing that doesn’t change for the team is the amount of hard work that goes into getting ready each week. “We prepare for every race the same, no matter where we go or who we are racing against,” he said.
Jurkovic will be going up against some of the most talented drivers in the Midwest, between the stars of the ARCA Midwest Tour, the ARCA/CRA Super Series and the locals this weekend.
“The competition is a lot tougher when you come to an event with a series like the Midwest Tour. On a weekly night there are about four guys that could win, but this Monday there will be about 20 that can win,” said Jurkovic.
In addition to previously mentioned sponsors, Jurkovic would also like to thank B&B Engines, Lefthander Chassis, and Fred from FRS shocks.
Make Memorial Day one to remember by coming out to Illiana Motor Speedway on Monday, May 26th.
Qualifying will begin at 12:30pm with an On-Track Autograph Session to follow at 1:30pm. The green flag will drop at 2:30pm.
