Duel for Diabetes Stacking Up to be a Duel between Touring Stars and Local Heroes

ARCA Midwest Tour Heads to Norway Speedway This Friday Night, August 14th

by Kari Shear-Carlson
August 9, 2015 - The ARCA Midwest Tour presented by Scag Power Equipment will be heading north for the Duel for Diabetes 100 this Friday, August 14th at Norway Speedway. This will be the Tour’s eighth trip to the 1/3 mile oval located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

The Midwest Tour events at Norway Speedway had once been dominated by local veteran and former Midwest Touring Star, Jamie Iverson, who won four consecutive from 2007-2010.

The Tour returned to the track in 2012 and Iverson saw his streak come to an end when former Midwest Tour Champion, Nathan Haseleu, took home the victory and started a run of his own. Haseleu won back-to-back-to back Norway 100’s from 2012-2014.

With Haseleu running a limited schedule and the now retired, Iverson, working with his son, Robbie, it’s time for someone new to enter the winner’s circle. The question is, will a Midwest Touring Star sit on the throne, or will a local hero claim home turf?

With this year’s entry list, it is anyone’s game. Along with the Stars and Cars of the ARCA Midwest Tour will be a host of local drivers who will give the Touring Stars a run for their money.

Current Norway Speedway point leader, Dillon Kravoletz, along with Dalton Zehr, Robbie Iverson, Kris Kelly, Jordan Ives, Dan Lindsley, and Joey Pontbriand, are just a few of the local names that will be giving the Midwest Tour regulars a challenge.

The Duel for Diabetes 100 will be one of four events remaining on the ARCA Midwest Tour schedule. Ty Majeski is the current point leader, holding a 51 point lead over Austin Nason, who is currently leading the Rookie of the Year point standings. Skylar Holzhausen is in third, 74 points behind Majeski, followed by Chris Weinkauf and Ricky Baker.
